How does Safeguard work?

Just like other Boundless solutions, Safeguard leverages the Meraki API to enhance Cisco-powered enterprise networks. Once you connect your organization(s), Safeguard instantly enables you to backup configurations for those organizations as well as for associated templates and networks, through a web-based graphical interface. It then allows you to restore stored configurations with just a few clicks.

How frequently are configurations backed up?

The solution checks the Meraki change log for configuration changes every 1-5 minutes. If a change is detected, it is captured in a snapshot and recorded in near-real time.

How long do backups take?

Backups can take a few hours to a couple of days. The total duration depends on the size of your network and the number of network resources you’re backing up. Since network configuration backups require significant API usage, they may disrupt other API requests. If a backup causes disruptions, you can pause it and resume at a later time when the volume of API requests has gone down.

How long is data stored for?

Safeguard retains data for 365 days, ensuring that even long-term configuration changes can be restored if needed.

Is Safeguard compatible with any network?

Safeguard is currently compatible with Cisco Meraki networks. More specifically, it saves and restores organization, network, and template configurations for which a Meraki API endpoint is available.
